Merit Badge Counselor and NOVA Counselor Renewal for 2024 Scouting Year

2024 Registrations must be completed by December 30, 2023.

If you have a CURRENT registration as a Merit Badge Counselor or STEM/NOVA Counselor (in addition to any other Pack/Troop/Crew/Ship registration you may also have), you need to renew your position registration annually.  

Merit Badge Counselors and NOVA Counselors are NOT unit leader positions. It is a Council-wide registration. Counselors are registered separately instead of registering with a unit.

If you are solely to be registered as a Merit Badge Counselor or NOVA Counselor, there is a $25 annual processing fee. This covers the cost of your background check. You must have a valid Youth Protection Training Certificate on file with the Boy Scouts of America before you can be renewed for the coming year.

If you have a paid registration in a Pack/Troop/Crew/District/Council for the coming year, you do not need to pay a fee again.

Please complete this renewal page so the Council can ensure you are properly registered in your role(s) for the 2024 Scouting year. If you do not complete your Counselor renewal, you will be dropped from TAC's Counselor lists and from Scoutbook.

If you are registered in several roles in Scouting, make sure you select all the options that apply.
