Arctic Adventure
Event Details

Arctic Adventure, a winter adventure program for Venturers and Scouts, will be held at Gardner Dam Scout Camp February 13th. There will be overnight outdoor camping on Saturday night for those who wish to stay. The Okpik winter camping program is an option. Virtual winter camping training is planned for Feb. 6th, 8:30am. You can practice Okpik winter camping skills during a winter camping adventure at Gardner Dam on Feb. 13 & 14.

- Cross Country Skiing
- OKPIK Winter Camping option (focus on winter camping skills - virtual training Feb. 6 with overnight Feb. 13, 14)
- Quinzhees / Winter Shelter Building
- Snow Sculptures
- Ice Fishing (based on interest and conditions; 16 – older will need fishing license; bring your own fishing gear)
- Snowshoe construction (build your own snowshoes and take them home)
- Great Cardboard Sledding Derby (construct sleds with cardboard and duct tape for the Derby)
- Jerky making and dehydrating foods
- Sew fleece items (neck gaiters & more)
- Crazy Winter Activities and Games
- Hearty meals and trail snacks to keep you well-fed for vigorous winter activities
Participants are required to have a completed Covid form, BSA medical and consent form upon arrival in camp and are responsible for their personal clothing, bedding, and personal care items. Additional information with suggested list of items to bring, will be sent prior to the event.
