2020 Jamboree-on-the-Air (JOTA)

What: Annual Scouting event that uses amateur radio to link Scouts around the world, across the country and in your own community.

When: Saturday October 17, 2020

Where:  Watching Reservation Scout Area
 

Munsee District will host the annual Jamboree On The Air (JOTA) event this year at the Scout Area of Watchung Reservation. Due to COVID-19 restrictions this year’s event will be a single day event, and only the Radio Merit Badge will be offered. Registration is required for Scouts interested in working on Radio merit badge. Any Cub Scout or Scout BSA can come to the event to learn about the radios and get a chance to speak to other radio heads across the country. The event information is as follows:

• The event fee is $5 per scout and includes an event patch.
• Pre-registration is REQUIRED.
• There will be temperature & mask checks at check-in.
• Social distancing is required.
• Masks are required at all times. A Scout is Courteous, Kind, Obedient, Cheerful and Friendly.
• Please arrive to check-in 15 minutes prior to your start-time. Failure to do so may move you into the next vacant time slot

Non-Merit Badge registrants

• Each registrant will register for the group/time slot they desire.
• There will only be six openings per each half-hour Group/Time slot.
• Non-Merit Badge registrants will receive a 10 minute radio orientation and 10 minutes of actual radio time.

Merit Badge registrants

• There will be two Merit Badge sessions offered (morning and afternoon), limited to 12 scouts each session.
• Merit Badge work is from 9:00 AM – 12:40 PM (morning session) and 1:00 PM – 4:40 PM (afternoon session. Scouts MUST be available for the entire work session.
• MB pre-requisite work MUST be done prior to session. Your Merit Badge Counselor will review your work to verify your knowledge of what you have done and will then assist you in completing the rest of the requirements for the badge. See pre-requisites on class selection page.
