Council Camporee (Clare MI - Water & Woods)

Water & Woods Survivor Camporee
October 5-7, 2018
Camp Rotary
Clare, Michigan
Walk-in registrations allowed for Cub Scouts, however any registrations after Monday October 1 will NOT receive lunch as part of the fee.
Reminder to troops, crews and ships attending: You are asked to host an event on Saturday (put on a station that patrols can participate in and be scored on) )(This is how the Dorchester camporee is run each year) You will need to provide the staffing for this activity. You can ask additional adults to come up for the day Saturday to help staff this activity. Adults can come for the day only to help you for free, but you will need to take care of their lunch if they do. Another suggestion is to set up a duty roster with your Scouts taking an hour to 90 minute shift. This will give them a leadership opportunity and they will still have 7 hours to participate in the other activities.
Important registration information:
If you are registering Webelos, Boy Scouts, Venturers, Sea Scouts or Explorers, you will be asked to "select a class" for each when completing the attendee information. You only complete this for your Scouts if you want to take advantage of the Climbing/rapelling, Low COPE or zip line events. You will only be allowed to select one activity and one time period for each youth. You will also be charged an additional $3 per youth that you select a class for. We are doing these events this way since camp can only run up to 120 youth through each of the 3 events so only units wanting to do these events pay extra for them. If you do NOT wish to do any of these events, just skip the class selection.
Come join the fun and fellowship with other Scouts of all ages at our council wide Camporee event Friday October 5 through Sunday October 7, 2018 at Camp Rotary in Clare, Michigan. This event is for all youth who are registered in a Scouting program, starting with first grade Tiger Cubs and any adult leader or parent who is involved with the youth in their units.
Fee covers lunch Saturday, Friday and Saturday night Cracker Barrels, Program, program materials, patch, camp use, and more.
Cub Scouts:
Age appropriate outdoor activities will be available for Cub Scouts to participate in throughout the day on Saturday. Activities will include: Games, crafts, sports, nature, hiking, boating shooting sports and more. For shooting sports, Cub Scout age youth will be able to participate in the BB Gun, Archery, and Sling Shot range activities. Kindergarten (Lions)and First grade Tiger Cubs must be registered in their unit prior to October 1, 2018. Lions can attend in the afternoon (1-5 PM) for free and participate in the"Heroes Start Here" new Scout portion of the event and all age appropriate activities. Please register any NEW Lions at the following link: https://www.scoutingevent.com/272-newcubfunday18
All Cub Scouts must be accompanied by a parent or an adult family member who is responsible to stay with them at all times during the day to attend this event. Lions and Tigers must be with a parent at all times, (Wolves, Bears and Webelos can attend as a den as long as the den meets the leadership supervision requirements) Adults attending may be responsible for more than one youth; however, you must keep all youth you are responsible for together at all times during the entire event. The fee includes lunch and all activities the Cub Scout youth can participate in. Cub Scouts may attend the Saturday evening Camporee Show. We will offer a camp dinner option for Cub Scouts and adults for an additional fee of $7 per person.
Webelos Scouts:
Webelos Scouts are encouraged to attend and camp with a Boy Scout troop if you are doing the overnight weekend camping and activities; however, you can camp as your own unit. Units must follow all of the outdoor guidelines for Webelos age campouts, including having the appropriate amount of adult leadership and supervision (minimum is 1 adult for each 2 Webelos attending) for your youth. Webelos Scouts will only be able to participate in the Cub Scout age shooting sports range activities which are BB Guns, Archery, and Sling Shot. They will be able to participate in all of the other Boy Scout activities throughout the weekend. Webelos Scouts may also register to attend as a Saturday only Cub Scout. If you register as a Webelos Den attending on Saturday only, you must follow the two-deep leadership and the 1 per 5 youth to adult ratio for the total number of youth attending. Webelos Scouts who are not attending as a den must register as a Cub Scout attending with a parent or family adult member.
Boy Scouts, Varsity Scouts, Venturing Scouts, Sea Scouts:
Come have a blast with all of the “Outing in Scouting” that you can do as you spend a weekend of fellowship and fun doing ‘Survival’ activities. You will be able to participate in shooting sports with 22 rifles, pellet guns, archery, and tomahawks. You can climb the Climbing Tower, do Low C.O.P.E. (team building elements) and try the zipline. (Additional fee for these activities due to time involved. You can reserve times when you register and pay.). Go check out the waterfront where there will be canoeing, row boats, and other activities. (Youth and adults that participate in the boating activities must adhere to BSA guidelines and bring their summer camp buddy tags or a roster from the Scoutmaster demonstrating they have the proper proficiencies) Troops will be asked to put on a “Scout Survival Activity” with prizes for the top point earners. There will be a “Friday Night Mixer” where Scouts can attend the Patch Swap, visit the camp Trading Post, and do other fun games after your campsite has been set up. Saturday during the day Scouts can check out the Scout Expo where they can view displays, get lots of additional information about Scouting events, and visit with vendors. Saturday evening there will be a Camporee Campfire Show put on by the Order of the Arrow. Due to the number of troops camping in the main campsite areas, NO ground fires will be permitted in unit sites. Please plan accordingly and bring a raised portable fire pit.
Here is a list of potential activities we want units to conduct. These will be the activity stations patrols will participate in to score points to win the top patrol prizes. You can come up with the event and format or we can give you some ideas. You will be asked to sign up to run one or more of these when you register your unit. You will be responsible to provide all supplies needed for your activity. If you have an activity not listed you want to host, you can add it in on the registration.
On the unit contact registration info page each unit will be asked to select from a list an event your unit will host at the camporee (You can do 2 different ones) OR you can write in your own activity if it isn't on the drop down list. (Subject to event chair approval))

Each unit will be allowed to drive their troop trailer back to their site and leave it there for the weekend. (Units without trailers can leave one vehicle in the campsite to store camping/cooking gear. This vehicle cannot move for the weekend) Units need to have all camping gear consolidated to follow these rules (or Scouts can carry their own gear back to the site)
