Adult Leader Training at Merit Badge College 2017

Held at Delta College on Saturday, December 9, 2017

 

Here is a great chance to become a trained leader or pick up some supplemental training!  Why not pick up some training while your Scouts are in their merit badge classes.

Cost is $6 for the day if paid by December 1 at midnight and will go to $10 after that.  This covers your registration for 2-half day or 1-full day session.  (lunch NOT included but can be purchased at the Delta Cafeteria.

ALL Day Session: 9 AM a.m. - 3:30 p.m.

M01: Scoutmaster/Assistant Scoutmaster Leader Specifics – M02: Eagle Bridge to SM/SMA Leader Specifics (S24) (combined)

M01- Required training for all Scoutmasters and assistants, this course provides the understanding of the Scoutmaster role. The course includes the 7 steps of a troop meeting, how to instill the eight methods of Scouting into the troop program, the advancement program, troop finances, troop program planning, the troop organization, the uniform, the paperwork, but most importantly how to deliver the “Promise of Scouting”.

M02- This course is for Eagle Scouts under the age of 24. The Eagle Bridge provides the necessary training to help with the cross over from a youth to an adult in a Boy Scout troop. Completion of this course and Youth Protection (Y01) will complete the required training for Eagle Scouts under the age of 24 to become “Trained” in the SM or SA position. This is a great opportunity for college students that are home on break to complete their training. Eagle and birth dates will be verified prior to participants taking the course.

Morning Sessions: 9 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.

M03: Troop Committee Challenge

Required training for troop committee chairs and members, this training has been developed to help troop committee members better understand their roles and responsibilities. Troop committee members will be better prepared to deliver the promise in support of the troop, Scoutmaster, and Scouts.

M04: Eagle Coach Training

Required training for the Eagle Coach in each troop. The course is designed to give the Eagle Coach the tools they need to help a Life Scout along his journey to becoming an Eagle Scout.

STEM Integration

STEM Integration is for anyone who would like to learn how to integrate STEM in their annual program -  attending STEM Events as well as using their regular Pack / Troop / Crew plans to connect STEM in Scouting year round.  We will cover how to tie the STEM required Merit Badges to the STEM Nova program, etc.  This session is often a great place for Q&A at the end.

Afternoon Sessions: 12:30 p.m. – 3 p.m.

M05: Scoutmaster Conference Training and Conducting Boards of Review

This course covers the “How To” skills for conducting the various types of Scoutmaster Conferences and Boards of Review. This course is based on the National advancement policies.

M06: Unit Leader “My.Scouting”

This course will familiarize unit leaders with the tools that are available to them through “My.Scouting” to manage their unit training, JTE information, community service reporting, and more. “My.Scouting” can help a unit be more successful.

Nova Counselor Training

The Nova Counselor Training is just that - Nova Counselor and Super Nova Mentor Training.  It involves getting an adult application (no fee) completed for the Nova Counselor position and is an in-depth dive to the Nova Awards, the process from beginning to end.

 

Please wear your uniform.  A health form is NOT required.  We would like you to register beforehand, but walk-ins will be accepted.

Delta will again offer lunch for participants for an additional fee.  The lunch specials for 2017 are:

1- 1/4 lb hot dog, fries, & soda or water for $4.50.  ($2.50 for Hot Dog only)

Slice of pizza, bread stick, & soda or water for $5.50. ($2.50 for pizza only)

Quarter pound cheeseburger, fries, & soda or water for $6.50 ($4.50 -Cheeseburger only)

Chicken tenders, fries, & soda or water for $6.50. ($4.50 for Chicken Tenders Only)

Deli sandwich, chips, & soda or water for $6.50  ($4.00 for Sandwich only)

Chef salad & soda or water for $7.00. ($6.00 for salad only)

All prices include tax.
