DRONETECH 2019

Northland Aerospace and The Pathfinder Project are hosting Dronetech 2019, the most significant STEM event of its kind at the Base Camp TeamBuilding Center Saturday, June 8th.

And You’re Invited!

This event is for Cub Scouts, Scouts, Venturers, and their families, providing hands-on experiences with a variety of very cool technologies. For Scouts and Venturers, Dronetech will offer full-day discipline-based courses on drone building, geospatial imagery, a drone flight school, and composite materials.

For those aged 9 and up that wish to attend this great event, there is a general attendee registration that includes participating in video game design, introduction to artificial intelligence and other emerging technologies including incredible next generation immersive virtual realities and augmented reality experiences, operation of autonomous and semi-autonomous vehicles, and much, much more!

Scouts and Venturers may also register as a general attendee to enjoy activities at their leisure throughout the day. Not a registered Scout, but interested in STEM? Feel free to register, you won’t want to miss this one.

Sign-up for a discipline-specific course or come and enjoy the event as a general participant.  Attendees that sign-up for a discipline-specific course will start the morning in that session.  Times vary based on the different activities.  Once the morning discipline-specific courses are complete you can still participate in the other activities throughout the day to continue learning about drones and other exciting technologies.

See you there!

How it Works

-Signing up for a Discipline-based Class:

Scouts and Venturers will have the option to choose a specific discipline for the day, including some of the coolest technologies available anywhere - drone building, geospatial imagery and analysis, drone piloting - and more (see below)!  If a Scout or Venturer signs up for a discipline, that will take part in an all-day session delivered by subject matter experts.

STEM Disciplines for Scouts and Venturers:

- Drone Building (limited to 60): Work in a group of 5 youth to study and build some of the most sophisticated drones around. Certified Subject Matter Experts and experienced guides will mentor you along the way.

- Geospatial Imagery Analysis (limited to 30): Get hands on experience with sophisticated geospatial imagery software used by the military and industry.

- Drone Flight School (limited to 30): Get a "crash course" on drone flying. You will work to master flying a drone and complete an obstacle course, mentored by certified flight instructors.

- Composite Materials (limited to 10): Work with industry standard composite materials and learn some important skills you can use in hobbies or future careers.

-Signing up as a General Attendee:

All Scouts (Cub Scouts, Scouts, and Venturers) along with family and friends can sign up as a "general attendee.” This registration option will give youth the opportunity to explore our other activities and displays at their leisure, as well as observe the selected disciplines.
