Philmont & Blue Sky Adventure

This expedition is for both BSA Scouts and Venturers. Youth must be 14 years old on or before June 27, 2021 or have completed 8th grade and be 13.

Cost is $2250 for two weeks, with a $175 deposit due to secure a spot on a crew. 

This Pine Tree Council expedition includes both the backpacking expedition at Philmont and Blue Sky Adventure's additional activities - whitewater rafting and touring in Albuquerque & Sante Fe. Travel, food, fees and ALL activities are included in the price for the treks.

Pine Tree Council is sending a contingent crew to Philmont Scout Ranch in 2021! Philmont is BSA’s premier National High Adventure Base located in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains (Southernmost range of the Rockies) located near the town of Cimarron, New Mexico. It covers 140,177 acres - about 219 square miles - of rugged mountain wilderness and is one of the largest youth camps in the world in land area.

These are 12-day backpacking treks loaded with Scout programing such as rock climbing, rifle shooting, blacksmithing, mining, horseback riding, burro racing, gold-panning, mountain bike riding and so much more! There are 35 staffed backcountry camps and 55 trail camps with hundreds of miles of hiking trails that wind around and over mountains that range in elevation from 6,500 to 12,441 feet.

Scouts and Venturers who participate in the Philmont expedition will experience challenges that will test them both physically and mentally. They will also build character, self-confidence and friendships that will last a lifetime. Many of those that have been on a trek at Philmont will tell you that it is the absolute highlight of their scouting career!
