Mardi Gras 2027 @ Avondale

Event Details

Welcome to 2027 Mardi Gras Camp - Rougarou Wranglers!

We are excited about your Scouts working to rank up to First Class—aka "Footsteps of the Rougarou"— by attending our 2027 Mardi Gras Camp at Camp Avondale on the Avondale Scout Reservation!

For Scouts who are not participating in the Rougarou program, we offer two exciting adventure track options:

  • COPE and Climbing – Scouts will take part in team-building challenges, climbing, rappelling, and, of course, ziplining while building confidence, leadership, and outdoor skills.

  • Range and Target Activities – Scouts can test their skills in archery, rifle shooting, and shotgun shooting while learning safe and responsible range practices.

Whether participating in Footsteps of the Rougarou, COPE and Climbing, or Range and Target Activities, Scouts will enjoy exciting adventures that help them build confidence, develop new skills, make new friends, and have fun with fellow Scouts. Don't miss out on a weekend packed with adventure, challenge, advancement, and Scout spirit!

Camp is a three (3) day camp before the Mardi Gras holiday, with arrival Friday evening on February 5 and ending at 4:00 p.m. on February 8. Our plan is to place your Scouts into patrols by similar rank and follow the patrol method. Our Staff Scouts will be your Scouts' patrol leaders as well as their instructors. Our goal is to teach while showing them a good time. We look forward to meeting and working with your Scouts.

Date: Febuary 5 - 8, 2027

Check-In Time: 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., February 5, 2027

Departure Time: 4:00 p.m., February 8, 2027

Scouts should pick a program such as Rougarou Wrangler, Range and Target Activities, or Cope/Climbing Activities during registration.

Adult Leaders:

Two registered adult leaders, 21 years of age or over, are required with current Safeguarding Youth Training in camp at all times. All adults accompanying a Scouting unit must be registered as leaders or committee members. Female Scouts BSA must be accompanied by a registered Female Leader. All adults attending camp must register as an adult leader or as staff (application online). Additionally, an adult application must be completed if the adult is not currently registered with Scouting America.

Health Forms:

All Scouts and adults attending camp must have a current Annual Health and Medical Record Parts A, B, and C. This is necessary to document the current health status and medications, if any, that the Scout or adult is taking. Health forms will be returned to units at the end of camp. It is recommended that only copies of the health forms be submitted. (The originals should remain with Troop records.)

IMPORTANT - Bring a copy of your achievements from Scout Book in addition to your Scout Handbook.
