Northeast District Fall Camporee 2017

Event Details

October 27-29, 2017
Camp Kikthawenund
6:00pm - 8:00pm Check-In

Each Troop should plan on preparing an exhibit for other Troops and Webelos Scouts to check out!

Please refer to the information below (also available in the attached booklet) for further information on what to expect and how best to prepare.  Scoutmasters have discretion to add to the recommendations in the booklet based on what their scouts may need in order to Be Prepared for this camporee.

Overview

Each troop will have space to set up a demonstration or activity for the Webelos that will attend this camporee.  This is a great opportunity for the troops to attract the potential new scouts to their troop.  So, each troop must think of the coolest and most fun display possible.  Remember to reference the Guide to Safe Scouting in the activities that you will do.  An "Exhibit Registration" will be available for each troop to submit their proposed demonstration or activity.  Please ensure this is done early so that we may review the safety aspects, if any, that must be present for this to be done with the Webelos.

Areas for the demonstrations and activities will be determined based on the requests of the troops and the space available.  Please be prompt in submitting your activity so that we can give you the best suited location possible.

There is an additional $5 fee for the course that covers lunch and materials
Overnight camping required

If you are not camping with your unit for the camporee or are traveling from another district, space is provided for you in another campsite
Participants must camp at least one night to get credit for the course

Show Exhibits

All units are asked to submit their exhibit ideas to the district for review.  This is not so that we can negate any plans.  But so that if two units are planning to do the same activity, we can advise of that so a change can be made if desired.  But, more importantly, we want to know what safety precautions we should have ready during the camporee beyond the normal bruise and/or scrape.  Please register your exhibit at this link: https://goo.gl/forms/tukC80O1P9rZg5Z73

Awards

The awards are presented based on not only review by district staff, but also the input of the Webelos attending.  Each Webelos will receive tokens that represent the three awards.  Before leaving for the day, they will be able to turn in their tokens for the presentation that they liked the most for the categories identified below.  Half the score for the award will come from the district and the other half will be from the Webelos.

Best Presentation
This is an overall award for the best presentation.  This award takes into account the activity or demonstration, how it is presented by the scouts, how the interaction with the Webelos goes and what the overall reaction of the Webelos is for the presentation.

Most Exciting Presentation/Demo
This award is determined by just how much you can get the adrenaline going.  Did you leave the boys totally excited about the activity?

Most Intricate Presentation
Some presentations take a lot of work amongst the scouts to bring about a good presentation.  This is an award that recognizes the outstanding efforts of the boys to bring together the presentation and keep it going.
