2027 MBU - Instructor & Staff Registration
Welcome to the 30th Annual Merit Badge University's Instructor & Staff Registration!
THANK YOU for your willingness to help at MBU. We have 4 jobs that need staffing.
1. Be a Merit Badge Counselor or Asst. Merit Badge Counselor.
2. Assist as a helper with a merit badge for the day. (No experience needed, & you will be assigned to a specific badge.)
3. Outdoor/Indoor Security & wayfarer assistance. (This is Indoors or outdoors, and offers plenty of fresh air, so dress for the weather. Job description includes directing traffic for safety at the start & end of MBU and assisting Scouts in finding their way to their classes during MBU.
4. Registration & Check-in for Staff & Students, & assisting at the Lunch rotations.
What to Do
1. Complete your registration.
1. If you wish to be a Merit Badge Counselor, please be sure and indicate which badges you are qualified & registered to teach.
2. If you wish to serve as STAFF (Non-Merit Badge Counselor) please select what positions you would be comfortable staffing.
3. If this is your first time, we'll coach you through event day procedures. We recommend that you serve as an assistant instructor your first time out or we can give you an adult helper to make your job easier. One of our volunteer coordinators will reach out, discuss where you'd like to contribute and place you in a class.
3. For Merit Badge Counselors, Pre-reqs/take-home tasks will be determined by MBU and shared with counselors ahead of time. Let us know of your Audio-Visual needs.

Additional Information:
- All Merit Badge Counselors & staff must register online in this system so we can communicate with you, send you your parking pass and other important information.
- An email and a mobile phone # are required so that we may communicate important information to you leading up to the event. We do not share this information and we respect your privacy.
- Registered Volunteers will receive a commemorative MBU Patch.
- Lunch is included with your registration.
- 1 parking pass per person will be emailed to you a few days prior to MBU. Park only in designated areas.
- Merit Badge Instructors and Assistant Instructors are required to have a current BSA Youth Protection Certificate. NO EXCEPTIONS.
- MB Counselors: Parents these days wait till the very last minute to register their Scouts. You will not have the final list of your students until the day of the event when you check in at Staff Check-In.
- STAFF: you will also receive a reminder a week before either event with last minute instructions.
- Please remember to bring a COPY (not original) of your BSA Health Form A&B to turn in at Staff Check-in.
Once again we are doing a Food Drive to help local families. Please remember to bring non perishable items to drop off when you enter the School! Thank you in advance for your generosity!
