ALOHA COUNCIL PROUDLY PRESENTS

2015 UNIVERSITY OF SCOUTING

“Be a Hero - Achieve Your Greatness”

Saturday, November 5, 2016
Damien Memorial School
1401 Houghtailing St, Honolulu, HI 96817

What is the University of Scouting? The University of Scouting is an action packed, fun-filled day of supplemental Scout Leader training. It is offered once a year to provide knowledge, ideas, tools and resources which helps adult leaders, volunteers and Boy Scouts in their Scouting positions.

The theme this year is “Be a Hero: Achieve Your Greatness”. Adult Scout leaders are frequently seen as heroes by the youth they serve. Heroes are people who are admired or idealized for courage, outstanding achievements, or noble qualities. Striving to achieve excellence through continual learning is one of the ways we become heroes.

Attending the University of Scouting will improve your Scouting skills which will help you deliver a high quality program to the youth you serve. This is an opportunity for you to reach for your personal greatness in Scouting.

University of Scouting will include Den Chief Training, Cub Scout Den Leader Position-Specific Training, Cubmaster & Assistant Cubmaster Position-Specific Training, Scoutmaster & Assistant Scoutmaster Position-Specific Training, Introduction to Leadership Skills for Troops, Introduction to Leadership Skills for Crews, Youth Protection Training and 77 other classes for all levels and positions in Scouting.

Why attend The University of Scouting? The University of Scouting is the perfect opportunity to improve your leadership skills, increase your Scouting knowledge and learn more about important Scouting topics. Every Scout deserves a well-trained leader!

Another great benefit is meeting and learning from other Scout leaders who share your interest, challenges and passion for Scouting. Use your time between classes and at lunch for Scouter networking. Meet up with old friends and make new ones!

There will be six, one hour sessions. You can choose from 15 different classes for each session. Classes are led by experienced volunteers and professionals who will help you deliver a fun, safe, interesting and exciting program to Scouts.

Who should attend The University of Scouting? All registered adult leaders, future adult leaders, unit committee members, volunteers and Scout parents. This includes Cub Scout, Boy Scout, and Venturing leaders, as well as unit, district and council volunteers.

Boy Scouts and Venturers ages 11 and up are welcome to attend all classes in addition to the training sessions specifically for youth. There are no courses in the schedule appropriate for Cub Scouts. Scout leaders and volunteers looking for the very best training and information sessions will find a variety of courses relevant to their current or future position in Scouting.

How much does it cost? Early bird registration until October 23 is $23.00. After October 23 the registration fee is $28.00. A small number of classes require an additional fee to cover the cost of supplies. The registration fee for Boy Scouts, Venturers and instructors is $13.00. The fee is paid during the online registration process after selecting classes.

What’s included in my registration fee? In addition to receiving a full day of fun, interesting class sessions, handouts, class materials and fellowship with hundreds of fellow Scouters, everyone will receive a hot catered lunch and a special commemorative 2016 Aloha Council University of Scouting patch.

What should I wear and bring? Wear your FULL Field (Class A) Uniform. Bring a pen and paper to take notes. Most importantly bring your desire to learn and your commitment to Be a Hero and Achieve Your Greatness!
