2021 O‘ahu Good Turn at National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific

Event Details

Boy Scouts of America & NCA to Honor Fallen Heroes on Memorial Day

Aloha Council will hold its annual flag placement at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific (Punchbowl) – however, we will need to operate differently than in past years.  Due to CDC, BSA, and State/County/City guidelines we will be limited as to the number of people on site.

Scouts in our state and across the country will build on the tradition of honoring our nation's fallen heroes this Memorial Day in partnership with the National Cemetery Administration, an agency within the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.

"Our Scouts learn the importance of duty to country and of honoring the people who served it through the values outlined in the Scout Oath and Law," said Boy Scouts of America CEO Roger Mosby, a U.S. Navy veteran.  "It is our privilege to work with the Department of Veterans Affairs to show our gratitude to fallen service members who otherwise may not receive the attention they deserve during this trying time for our country."

"This collaboration between the Boy Scouts of America and the National Cemetery Administration represents a significant effort to honor and express gratitude to our nation's Veterans on this Memorial Day and every day," said Under Secretary for Memorial Affairs Randy Reeves.

IMPORTANT: EVERY GROUP PLANNING ON PARTICIPATING MUST REGISTER WITH ALOHA COUNCIL

EACH INDIVIDUAL MUST COMPLETE THE WAIVER AND THE PRE-EVENT SCREENING FROM THE LINK AT THE BOTTOM OF THIS PAGE AND BRING IT WITH THEM

The NCA is limiting us to having groups no larger than 10 in each section of the Cemetery, and having no more than a total of 100 on site at any time.

Also, the NCA is requesting that we return to the Cemetery on the Tuesday and Wednesday following Memorial Day to take down the flags.  Please sign up to help take down flags - we may not be able to hold the Good Turn in the future if we do not assist the NCA with take down.

1-hour time slots are available for flag placement between 10 am to 2 pm on Saturday, May 29 and Sunday, May 30.

Time slots are also available for take down between 3 pm to 6 pm on Tuesday, June 1 and 9 am to 12 noon on Wednesday, June 2.

When you register, you are signing up for a block of 10 participants.  You can sign up for more than one block of 10, and you can sign up for more than one time slot (if you'd like to stay for more than an hour).  However, please remember and respect the NCA's rule PROHIBITING EATING OR PICNICING ON THE CEMETERY GROUNDS.
