AT CAMP LA-NO-CHE

James Sawgrass:

A native Floridian of Muscogee (Mvskoke) Creek descent and a living historian of the southeastern tribes of Florida, Georgia, and Alabama. Sawgrass has been sharing his  knowledge of the Southeastern Native American tribes for over 30 years.  In 1988, Sawgrass began presenting Native American history programs professionally . Since then, he has performed at places like schools, Pow Wows, state and national parks, Walt Disney World, Universal Studios, Sea World, and many other places around the United States and Europe. This summer Sawgrass comes to Camp La-No-Che!


Program Overview:

Experience 4 days and 3 nights taking part in “The Sawgrass Native Experience” at Camp La-No-Che. Participate in a host of activities as you journey through what life was like as a Native American living in what is now modern day Florida. A fully curated program instructed by trained staff and Native American Historians with engaging and fun activities. 


Camper Requirements:

- Ages 9 to 17 (boys & girls permitted/separate accommodations) 
  (parent has option to attend with child in family camping area)

  • Crafts/Games
  • Knife/Tomahawk Throwing        
  • Story Telling
  • Pow-Wow (Native Dancing)        
  • Primitive Cooking
  • Scenic Nature Hike to Spring         
  • Wilderness Survival
  • Swimming/Canoeing        
  • Campfires/Shows

Registration Fee:

  • Youth- $200.00
  • Adult- $100.00
  • Camper (no parent)- $225.00

Camping:

3 campsite accommodation options available to choose from:

  • Standard: Bring your own tent
  • Deluxe: Canvas tent & 2 cots provided (additional fee of $10)
  • Premium: Screened cabin, fan, electrical, mattress (additional fee of $20)

(*All camping options include 2 Adult Staff Members for supervision)


Dining:

All  breakfasts, lunches,  dinners  are included with the cost of registration from arrival to departure, as well as evening snacks/drinks.
