2021 Vigil Induction

Only Vigil members and candidates may sign up to attend Vigil induction events. Vigil candidates who received an invitation letter may sign up using this registration page. There are three induction opportunities scheduled. The first is on Friday, August 6, 2021; the second is Saturday, August 7, 2021 both at Goshen Scout Reservation. The third is Friday, November 26, 2021 at Camp William B. Snyder. If you are not able to schedule your induction on any of these dates, you must contact the Vigil Inductions Adviser, Mrs. Karen Purinton, 540-834-6164, vigilinductions@wipit470.org at your earliest opportunity. 

Vigil candidates should identify their guide when registering. Vigil members planning to be a Vigil guide should identify the candidate that they will be guiding. If you are a Vigil member attending either or both nights at Goshen, or if you are a new Vigil and intend to spend the night on Saturday, please bring a tent.

In addition to your uniform shirt and Brotherhood sash, candidates should dress appropriately to remain in the outdoors for a lengthy time (remember come prepared for the season and not the day). Prepare your pack for the experience by including the following items:

Mask
Canteen or a large bottle of water for safety, etc.
Rain gear
Watch
Matches
Pocket knife, axe, or saw
Small Camp Chair

We recommend that guides bring a gallon jug of some sort as well.

You must arrive by 8 pm on the chosen date for your ceremony. Check-in will begin at 8 pm and meetings will begin at 9 pm. We will begin Induction Activities shortly after 10 pm. We are serving a breakfast meal on Saturday and Sunday (after each ceremony). Please eat dinner before arriving on Friday or Saturday night.

Our experience has shown that you will be tired following the Vigil; driving home is not permitted. You MUST carpool with someone who is not participating in the overnight activities (this is a National policy). Per COVID Guidelines, “Social distancing and face coverings must be worn if carpooling is necessary (e.g., after someone’s Vigil).” Please arrange for your ride to pick you up about an hour after sunrise, around 9 am.

The cost is $60 per Vigil Candidate, this price includes your registration for Vigil, as well as your registration for the Lodge Banquet to be held in January 2022. If you would like to purchase the 2022 Lodge Passport, this registration can cover one of your guests.

The cost is $10 for Vigil members for Goshen Scout Reservation or $20 for Camp Snyder attending as guides or staff.

Notice to all Order of the Arrow members
All active Order of the Arrow Vigil members are encouraged to register. An active Order of the Arrow member is:
- Currently registered with BSA and
- Lodge dues are paid through current year.
If your dues are not current you will need to pay them. Pay your annual dues online. Dues are $16.

All registrants must bring a copy of their BSA Annual Health and Medical Form (parts A & B). There are links to the form on this registration page. You will be screened at Camp using the "Pre-Event Medical Screening Checklist" and will be turned away if you fall into the YES category.

More information will be sent out to all Vigil Members and Vigil Candidates from the Inductions team. Please watch for emails from them closer to the event.
