Join the security professionals at Okta for an exclusive, hands-on workshop to earn the new Cybersecurity merit badge! In today's digital world, understanding how to protect our information online is more important than ever. As a leader in identity and security, Okta is excited to host Scouts and share our expertise.

Scouts will have the unique opportunity to learn from and interact with Okta's own cybersecurity experts about different career paths in the industry. We will dive into topics like cryptography, ethical hacking, and how to defend against cyber threats. This session is designed to be interactive and engaging, so come prepared to learn and participate!

Who Should Attend:

This event is open to all registered Scouting America youth.  We also need adults to help supervise.

What to Bring:

A laptop or tablet with Wi-Fi capability. A limited number of devices will be available, but bringing your own is highly encouraged to ensure you can participate in all the hands-on activities.

A signed copy of the BSA Activity Consent Form.

Proof of completion for the prerequisite requirements.

Prerequisites:

This is a new badge, so we may not complete all the requirements on-site.  However, all Scouts must complete the following requirements before the event:

Requirement 1a: With a parent or guardian's permission, view the "Digital Safety" video from the Personal Safety Awareness series.

Requirement 4e: Read an article about a recent cyber incident OR watch a movie/read a book about cybersecurity. Be prepared to discuss.

Important Notes:

Okta is a cybersecurity company, so all attendees must pre-register.

All adults will be required to show a valid photo ID at the front desk to enter the Okta offices. Please allow a few extra minutes for check-in.

Getting There:

We recommend public transit.  Okta’s offices are close to the Montgomery Street BART.  Parking can be expensive during business hours.
