Additional Information:  Scouts interested in the adventures of cycling can join this two part clinic to get a jumpstart on the Cycling Merit Badge.  Completion of the merit badge can be done individually, or (pending parental help) as a group in the weeks following the second session of this clinic.  The second session of this clinic will focus on mountain biking.  If your preference is road biking, let the counselor know as soon as possible so arrangements can be made.  Our focus in this part of the clinic will be to discuss bike maintenance, safety, and laws.  We will have games to make the learning experience exciting and memorable.

The workbook is not required.  You may use the workbook to take notes if you wish, but this isn't school.  We're here to have fun learning by doing.

Bring:

Blue Card for Cycling signed by your Scoutmaster (Please don't fold the card!)

Road bike or mountain bike ready for inspection.  See requirement 2 and use thebicycle safety checklist found on pages 88-89 of the Cycling Merit Badge book to prepare your bike. Do not bring stunt bikes, BMX bikes, or single speed bikes. This bike must fit the rider. See pages 18-21 for fitting.
